Historically the YWCA has fought for issues such as the abolition of child labor, the 8-hour workday and desegregation.
In 2006, the YWCA Bellingham board of directors voted unanimously to support passage of legislation regulating “predatory practices” of payday-lending companies “to provide fair and reasonable consumer protections” for Washington residents.
